Appearance
Project Invoices
The Invoices tab on a project shows all invoices linked to that project and lets you generate new ones directly from the project's milestones.
Invoice Summary Strip
At the top of the Invoices tab (and on the project overview), a strip shows four financial totals:
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Total invoiced | Sum of all invoice values for this project |
| Paid | Amount received so far |
| Outstanding | Sent but not yet paid |
| Overdue | Past the due date and unpaid |
Auto-Generated Milestone Invoices
When you record a client approval on the Approvals tab, Omako automatically creates a draft invoice for that milestone. A banner appears on the Approvals tab linking directly to the new draft.
The draft pre-fills the milestone title and amount. Review it, set the due date and GST settings, then send it — or edit it first if needed. The invoice is never auto-sent.
Creating an Invoice Manually
Click New invoice on the Invoices tab. Omako pre-fills the invoice with:
- The project and client details
- A suggested title (e.g. Milestone 2 Payment)
- The option to select which milestone(s) this invoice covers
Fill in the issue date, due date, and any line items, then save as a draft or send directly to the client.
Viewing All Project Invoices
The Invoices tab lists all invoices linked to the project with their status badges:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Not yet sent |
| Sent | Shared with the client |
| Paid | Payment received |
| Overdue | Due date has passed, not paid |
Click any invoice to open it in the full invoice editor.
Invoice and Milestone Alignment
Omako does not enforce a strict one-invoice-per-milestone rule. You can:
- Invoice one milestone at a time (most common)
- Bundle multiple milestones into a single invoice
- Issue partial invoices for larger milestones
- Create standalone invoices not linked to any milestone (e.g. for expenses)
For GST-registered businesses, each invoice automatically calculates GST based on your workspace settings. See GST & Tax → for details.
