Client Portal Access
Your clients get their own view of the work you do for them — proposals to sign, deliverables to approve, invoices to pay. This page explains how to give them access, and how to take it away.
It is free for your clients. They are never charged, and they never count against your plan.
Inviting a Client
- Open the client from Clients
- Go to the Contacts tab and click Invite next to the person you want to give access
- The invitation goes to that contact's email address
Omako emails them an invitation. When they open it, they enter a 6-digit code sent to that same address, and they're in. There is no password to create and nothing to install.
A contact needs an email address before they can be invited. Add one by editing the contact.
TIP
You only invite each client once. Everything you share with them afterwards — new proposals, new invoices, deliverables to approve — appears in the same place automatically.
Sending Before You Invite
If you try to send a proposal or invoice to a client who has not been invited yet, Omako stops and tells you — because the link would not open for them.
You can Invite and send, which sends the invitation first and then the document, or Send anyway if you are sharing the link some other way and the client does not need the portal.
TIP
A client only needs inviting once. After they accept, everything you send them afterwards opens straight away.
Why There Is a Sign-In Step
Anyone can forward an email. Without a sign-in step, whoever ended up with the link could accept a proposal or approve work in your client's name, and you would have no way of knowing who actually did it.
Signing in fixes both halves of that:
- The invitation only works for the address you sent it to. If your client forwards it to a colleague, the colleague can't use it. Invite that colleague separately if they need access.
- Every approval is attributable. When a proposal is accepted or a deliverable approved, Omako records which account did it, when, and from where. If a client later disputes what was agreed, you have the record.
It also protects your own details. Your invoices carry your bank account, UPI ID, PAN and GSTIN — those are now visible only to the client you invited, not to anyone who comes across the link.
What Your Client Can See
Only what belongs to them:
- Proposals you have sent them (drafts stay private until you send)
- Their invoices, other than drafts
- Their projects and milestones
- Deliverables awaiting their approval, and scope changes you have sent
They cannot see your other clients, your other projects, or any notes you have written about them.
Removing Access
Open the client, go to the Contacts tab, and click the green Has access button next to that person. It takes effect immediately — the next time they open a link, they cannot see it. Any invitation they have not used yet stops working at the same time. Other people at the same client keep their access.
Nothing is deleted. Your proposals, invoices and history stay exactly as they were, and you can invite them again later if you need to.
If a Client Can't Get In
- The code hasn't arrived — ask them to check spam. The code is sent to the exact address you invited; a different address won't work.
- "This invitation was sent to someone else" — they are signed in with a different email. They should sign out and use the invited address, or you can invite their address instead.
- The invitation expired — invitations last 7 days. Send a fresh one from their client record.
