Creating a Proposal

Proposals are built using a 6-step wizard. Each step is saved automatically as a draft, so you can close and return at any time without losing your work.

Click New Proposal from the dashboard or the Proposals list to start.

Step 1 — Basics

Set the foundations of your proposal.

FieldNotes
TitleThe internal and client-facing name for this proposal.
ClientSelect an existing client or create a new one inline.
CategoriesTag the project type (Branding, Web, Mobile, etc.). Multiple allowed.
Valid from / untilThe date range during which the client can accept. After the end date, the proposal shows as Expired.

Step 2 — Pricing

Define what you're charging.

  • Add line items — each has a description, quantity, and unit price.
  • Omako calculates the subtotal and total automatically.
  • You can add a discount (flat or percentage) and see the net total update in real time.
  • Select your pricing model: Fixed, Hourly, or Retainer.

TIP

You can reorder line items by dragging them up or down.

Step 3 — Milestones

Break the project into deliverable phases.

  • Add milestones with a title, description, and due date.
  • Each milestone can have sub-milestones for granular tracking.
  • Set a payment percentage per milestone — Omako ensures they add up to 100%.
  • Click Suggest with Omi to have the AI generate milestone suggestions based on your project type and budget.

Step 4 — Scope & Terms

Define boundaries and payment expectations.

FieldNotes
Project scopeWhat is included in the project.
ExclusionsWhat is explicitly not included.
Revision policyChoose: a fixed number of rounds, unlimited revisions, or revisions by scope.
Payment termse.g. 50% upfront, 50% on completion
Client dependenciesItems the client must provide (e.g. copy, photos, brand assets).

Add standard legal protections. Omako includes common clause templates you can enable with one click:

  • Liability limitation — caps your liability to the project fee
  • IP ownership — transfers IP to the client only on full payment
  • Late payment interest — charges interest on overdue invoices
  • Kill fee — protects you if the client cancels mid-project
  • Dispute resolution — defines how disputes will be handled

You can edit the text of any clause or add custom clauses.

Step 6 — Review

See the full proposal as it will appear to the client. Check every section before creating or sending.

  • Click Back to edit any step.
  • Click Create proposal to save it as a draft.
  • Click Create & send to save and immediately share with the client.

Auto-Save

Omako saves your progress automatically as you move between steps. If you close the browser mid-way, your draft will be waiting when you return.

Duplicating a Proposal

To reuse an existing proposal as a template, open the proposal and click Duplicate. A new draft is created with all the same content, ready for you to edit.
