Creating Invoices
Omako supports two types of invoices: project invoices (linked to a specific project) and standalone invoices (independent of any project).
Creating a Standalone Invoice
Go to Invoices → New invoice. Fill in the details across three tabs:
Details Tab
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Title | The invoice name, shown on the document (e.g. Website Design — Phase 1) |
| Client | Select the client this invoice is for |
| Invoice number | Auto-generated (e.g. INV-0042) or enter a custom number |
| Issue date | The date the invoice is raised |
| Due date | The payment deadline |
| Currency | Currently INR (₹) |
Line Items Tab
Add one or more line items. Each has:
- Description — what you're charging for
- Quantity — number of units
- Unit price — rate per unit
- Tax rate — percentage applied to this line item
Omako calculates the line total, subtotal, tax, and grand total automatically. You can also add a discount (flat amount or percentage).
Payments Tab
Set the invoice's current payment status and add any payment records. See Tracking Payments → for details.
Creating a Project Invoice
From a project's Invoices tab, click New invoice. Omako pre-fills the client and lets you select which milestones the invoice covers. The rest of the process is the same as above.
Invoice Number
Omako auto-generates sequential invoice numbers (e.g. INV-0001, INV-0002). You can override this with a custom number if your existing numbering scheme requires it.
TIP
If you need to match your existing invoice numbering, set the number manually on your first invoice. Omako will continue sequentially from there.
Generating a PDF
Click Download PDF on any invoice to generate a formatted PDF document. The PDF includes your workspace branding, full line items, GST breakdown, and payment details.
Sharing with a Client
Click Send to client to share the invoice via a unique link (e.g. my.omako.app/i/abc123). The client can view the invoice in their browser and print or save it as a PDF. See the Client Invoice View section below.
Client Invoice View
The client link opens a clean, branded invoice showing:
- Your workspace name and logo
- Your GST number and PAN (if set)
- Client business name and GSTIN
- Invoice number, issue date, and due date
- Line items with descriptions and amounts
- Full GST breakdown (IGST or CGST/SGST)
- Total amount due and payment status
The client cannot edit anything — it is read-only.
Editing an Invoice
Invoices in Draft or Sent status can be edited freely. Once marked as Paid, the invoice is locked and cannot be changed.
